Like surfing, skiing has always had a facet of anti-materialism to it; but let’s face it: we all want to ski to the best of our abilities and look as good as we can while doing it.

With so many advancements in ski designs over the past few years it can be hard figuring out what equipment will give us the most performance on the slopes. And with ski wear styles changing almost as frequently as the weather, choosing an outfit that is both fashionable and functional requires some guidance. Enter Fleischer Sports in Steamboat, Colorado.

Chad Fleischer moved with his family to Steamboat Springs from Vail nine years ago after settling on a mountain town community where he could raise his family. Fleischer is a ten year veteran of the US Ski Team and was a member of two Olympic teams. His enthusiasm for skiing hasn’t waned; it has just shifted from the aspect of competitive downhill racing to the customer service side of the sport.

Fleischer Sports is the only one of its kind for ski shops in Steamboat. Not only do they offer the highest-end skis, snowboards, boots, and gear available, but the seasoned staff contributes superb product knowledge and familiarity to help in making decisions. “It’s not a get you in and get you out type of place” according to Chad. The goal here is to give the customer the ultimate experience in finding the gear that’s right for them.

Poc helmets and goggles are all the rage and Fleischer Sport is the largest Poc dealer in Steamboat. They are also the exclusive Bogner and Kastle dealer. For demo skis choose from Armada, Atomic, or Kastle. And for snowboards choose from Arbor or Burton.
While Fleischer specializes in performance-related equipment, there is also an emphasis on being family friendly. The first in the state to offer free gear rental for kids twelve and under. All transactions are digital which means no paperwork, and the ability to archive previous equipment demos and rentals. To make life even easier and more comfortable there is also free boot storage complete with heated dryers. Fleischer Sports is located in the center at the base of the gondola.

The talk of the town right now is the upcoming “Stars at Night” gala. Chad Fleischer will be a part of the celebration which is December 29th at the Steamboat Grand Ballroom. The event features a fashion show with celebrities, athletes and models and a black tie cocktail party that will last into the night with music and dancing.
